Responsibilities

The paraprofessional is responsible for assisting the classroom teacher with a variety of duties designed to carry out individual student education programs, personal care, and positive behavior support

Assists in daily classroom routines and facilitates student’s participation in all activities

Implements classroom and/or individual student behavior intervention strategies

Ability to plan and implement lessons according to school objectives and needs and abilities of students to whom assigned

Ability and desire to work with students with special needs and severe disabilities

Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance is required

Perform other duties deemed necessary and appropriate as assigned

Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent

Prefer two (2) years of successful experience working with students in an educational or daycare environment

Paraprofessional qualifications of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (R340.1793) include, but are not limited to teacher aides, health care aides, bilingual aides, instructional aides, and program assistants in programs for students with cognitive impairment or severe multiple impairments

Demonstrate proficiency in the use of technology and computer skills

Willing to undergo a background check
